Back on Stage

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog. Let’s just say that if the end of my 2023 were to be made into a ballet, the title would be A Study in Murphy’s Law.

That said, I’m back and ready to make this blog what I envisioned when I started it, and the first step is to post regularly. I’m hoping to do better with that this year.

Although the second half of 2023 did not go as I’d hoped, I want to wrap up this short update by sharing some of my dance wins from that time period. First, in August I was able to attend a 3-hour workshop with Egyptian dance master, Ahmed Hussien. He is a living legend in the belly dance community! This was my second year attending, and this time I felt like I was able to let go and really enjoy the dancing! My second win was that my dear friend and belly dance teacher Virginia Assad invited me to join her troupe and perform in her inaugural full production. Not only that, but I even performed a solo, which is a big step for me considering I’m always plagued by self-doubt when it comes to my dancing. Not to mention, the last time I danced on stage was almost a decade ago! That November evening is one of my favorite memories of 2023. I’m hoping to make more good ones this year.
